순환 종양 DNA (circulating tumor DNA, ctDNA)는 조기 진단, 치료 목표의 식별, 치료 반응 모니터링, 예후 평가 및 최소잔존질환 검출의 잠재적인 도구로 주목받고 있으며, ctDNA 검사는 실제 임상 영역에 적용되어 시행되고 있다. 본 종설에서는 현존하는 근거들을 바탕으로ctDNA 검사의 분석전 과정, 최신 기술을 적용한 분석 과정, 해석과 보고 과정을 검토하여 ctDNA 검사의 임상적 적용에 대해 기술함으로써 ctDNA 검사의 올바른 임상적 적용을 위한 권고 사항을 제공하는 것을 목표로 한다.
