This study aims to analyze the origins and evolution of labyrinth dance, which carries various symbols and meanings as a cultural representation. The focus is on the labyrinth dance performed in medieval churches, examining its origins, devel- opment, and contemporary applications. In ancient Greece, circular dances that emphasized simple steps and marching patterns were integral to religious festivals. These dances played a crucial role in rituals and celebrations dedicated to the gods, characterized by collective, ritual- istic, and religious activities involving dance and song. The forms and practices of these ancient Greek dances bear similarities to the medieval labyrinth dances. Labyrinth dance holds a long-standing tradition in Christianity and has played a significant role in Christian celebrations. In particular, Labyrinth dances were performed in churches during important Christian festivals such as Easter, Christ- mas, and celebrations like the Feast of Fools. In churches, labyrinth dances were performed within composed of 12 circuits. The specific movements included turn, halt, and counter turn, based on cosmologi- cal views concerning the stars, planets, and Earth. Labyrinth dances are characterized by a recursive sequence of entering and returning from the labyrinth. It symbolize the journey of conquering sin and the resurrection of Jesus. In modern times, labyrinth dances have been reinterpreted not only as a way to reflect on their religious significance but also as a method for personal introspec- tion, meditation, and spiritual healing.
