This study seeks to improve the efficiency of analyzing exhibition spaces by developing a multi-layered simulationmodel that integrates Discrete Event Simulation (DES) and Agent-Based Modeling (ABM). Traditional DES methods, which oftenfail to capture nuanced changes in user behavior, can lead to inefficiencies in managing exhibition spaces. By incorporatingABM, the study simulates more realistic scenarios in which visitors independently decide their actions, which can lead toreduced waiting times, skipping of certain contents, or abandoning queues entirely. An empirical model was specificallyimplemented for the Busan Museum of Movies to analyze visitor flows and interactions within the exhibition space. This modelfacilitated the measurement and adjustment of the load on each exhibition area, optimizing queuing and processing capacities toenhance overall system efficiency. The integration of DES and ABM enabled precise load calculations for different areas, utilizing advanced visualization techniques to verify and refine the space programming. Simulation results indicated a significantreduction in average viewing time, dropping from 2 hours 32 minutes and 14 seconds to just 1 hour 9 minutes and 28seconds. This substantial decrease highlights the effectiveness of integrating visitor behavior into the simulation process. Additionally, the study noted a decrease in the frequency of queue abandonment and preemptive queue skipping, whichcontributed to an overall increase in viewing rates from 91.36% to 97.45%. Notably, the viewing rates for content that previouslyengaged fewer visitors improved by up to 60 percentage points. Overall, this study confirms that a multi-layered modelcombining DES and ABM can significantly enhance the efficiency of exhibition spaces. It supports a more realistic analysis andoptimization of visitor behavior and interactions. Future research should aim to apply this model across various exhibition spacesand continue refining the modeling techniques to capture even more detailed patterns of visitor behavior.
