Shi Pingmei was a female writer who was active in the literary world of Beijing in the 1920s under the influence of the May Fourth New Culture Movement. As a writer, Shi Pingmei left behind various speculations and deep thoughts for the times. For a long time, researchers have often overlooked her other identity - as an editor. From “Beijing News Women’s Weekly” to “World Daily Rose”, Shi Pingmei’s participation in editing or chief editing of these two newspapers and magazines almost ran through her entire literary creation career.Editors are the helmsmen of newspapers, and their cultural, aesthetic, and artistic views are the soul of newspapers. The study of literary creation must be linked to its production mechanism and dissemination methods, and the study of a writer’s creation cannot be separated from the historical background and specific literary network. This article will focus on examining Shi Pingmei as an editor, starting with her literary and artistic publications, exploring her unique editorial ideas, and based on this, elaborating on the promotion and influence of her editorial ideas on her literary thoughts and creations. This article aims to provide a more in-depth and comprehensive perspective for the study of Shi Pingmei, and to provide some new ideas and methods for the study of female writing in the history of modern Chinese literature.
