The elderly population in China has the characteristics of large base and rapid increase. In the face of the increasing number of elderly people, according to the development trend of aging population and the requirements of livable environment for the elderly, it is still difficult to meet the various needs of the elderly by family care, and it is urgent to build a large number of apartment-style elderly houses. In addition to meeting the physiological characteristics of the elderly and the functions of architectural design, the design of the apartment environment for the elderly should also consider their behavioral characteristics and their psychological needs more deeply. Introducing the concept of healing environment design into the design of communication space in apartments for the elderly can effectively meet the needs of the elderly at the physical and psychological levels, and pay attention to their life health from the body, mind and spirit. At the same time, it can be different from the design of functional apartments for the elderly, improve the use experience and environmental quality of indoor public spaces in China apartments for the elderly, and build a more comfortable and livable communication space environment for the elderly. Based on the needs of the elderly and their communication characteristics, this study made a design plan for the healing environment of the internal communication space of the elderly apartments, and put forward measures to improve the internal communication space of the elderly apartments in China.
