This study aimed to compare the impact of obesity levels on unmet dental needs among Korean adults, stratified by sex. The data for this study were obtained from the 7th (2016∼2018), 8th (2019), and 9th (2022) Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys. The study included 19,580 adults, with obesity levels as the independent variable and unmet dental needs as the dependent variable. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics’ Complex Sample Logistic Regression Analysis, stratified by sex. When analyzing the impact of obesity levels on unmet dental needs, men with grade 3 obesity were 130% more likely to experience unmet dental needs than those without obesity (OR=2.298, p=0.011). For women, all three levels of obesity were significantly associated with unmet dental needs compared to those without obesity. Grade 1 obesity was associated with approximately 12% higher odds (OR=1.117, p=0.011), grade 2 obesity with 28% higher odds (OR=1.284, p=0.005), and grade 3 obesity with 59% higher odds (OR=1.587,p=0.025). Obesity was associated with an increased likelihood of unmet dental needs, and the probability increased with higher levels of obesity. Women showed a greater sensitivity to the impact of obesity on unmet dental needs from the early stages, whereas men were more affected only at the severe obesity stage. At grade 3 obesity, men were more likely to experience unmet dental needs than women.
