This paper focuses on optimizing plate heat exchanger designs to enhance the cooling performance of hydrogen vehicles. Two designs, Dimple/Dimple and Fin/Fin, were analyzed to improve heat transfer while managing pressure drop. The Dimple/Dimple design, with satellite dimples to induce turbulence, showed superior heat transfer but higher pressure drop. In contrast, the Fin/Fin design had lower heat transfer but minimized pressure drop through structured fluid flow. CFD simulations revealed the strengths and trade-offs of both designs. The study confirms that the Dimple/Dimple type suits high-performance needs, while the Fin/Fin type is ideal for systems requiring low pressure drop, offering valuable insights for hydrogen vehicle thermal management.
