Painting and chemical conversion coating industry are normally used in car, electronics, building materials in global. There are several types of processes in chemical conversion coating such as degreasing, water washing, painting, gas heat drying, water cooling. Degreasing needs hot water and heating source like steam to remove the dirty and grease on product. Cooling load also occures in painting and water cooling process to finish making product.
The chiller and heat-pump have the same structure and same refrigent cycle, but chiller are normally used when customer wants to use chilled water only (Heat of hot water(cooling water) is dissipated into the atmosphere). On the contrary, heat-pump are usually uesd as customer wants to use hot water only (Heat of chilled water are consumed in the air, geothermal, river, sea). In addition, heat-recovery means customer can use chilled water and hot water at the same time and efficiency of the heat-recovery sytem is the best comparing with chiller or heat-pump only.
In case of one real electronics factory in Korea, we have applied new heat-recovery system to use chilled water and hot water at same printing process. We find that hot water from heat-recovery is produced free of charge when chilled water is supplied by using electric power. It means we can save the existing gas and boiler steam.
Most utilities in electronics and car industry are usually used for 24hr and it means that has the big energy consumption. Therefore we can save energy and cost if we understand heat-pump and heat-recovery system considering various characteristics of process and factory.
