With the development of Augmented Reality(AR) technology, virtual pets are being studied to confirm their value as social beings. Based on deep learning technology, virtual pets are also developing into intelligent forms that can recognize situations and generate behaviors. However, compared to the development of virtual pets, there are not many studies that focus on the interaction with virtual pets. In this paper, we propose a marker mapping method that can measure qualitative effects such as realism and immersion by realistically realizing the facial animation of virtual pets in interaction with augmented reality pets through capturing real human faces. Based on the research results of this paper, we identified key factors related to facial animation in the realization of realistic augmented reality pets, which is expected to help the development and advancement of augmented reality pet contents.
