Environmental sculptures in urban spaces across Korea have traditionally been installed in central business and commercial areas. These sculptures have evolved alongside advancements in science, industrialization, and economic growth. However, they often fail to create a meaningful connection with users or fulfill psychological and environmental needs. Despite efforts by architects, environmental sculptors, and landscape architects to design environmental sculptures that harmonize with their surroundings and cultural context, the focus tends to remain on professional perspectives rather than prioritizing user satisfaction or the expressive qualities of the design. This study derived the user satisfaction index and the expert importance index for formative design components in the business and commercial areas of Daegu's city center. The analysis was conducted using Z-score calculations on a normal distribution curve. To identify areas needing improvement, an improvement need index was calculated through a Harmonic Mean process. The findings indicate that the need for improvement was highest in the Form Organization component for landscaping facilities. For buildings, the Form Interpretation component ranked highest, while for landscaping facilities, both Form Interpretation and Form-Based components were relatively low in improvement needs. Finally, specific items requiring enhancement within the formative design components were identified and suggested for future development.
