Stone walls, traditionally used to demarcate property boundaries in villages, are integral to the landscape, reflecting the historical and cultural heritage of these areas. In Killough, Northern Ireland, many of these stone walls have become derelict and weathered, risking collapse and loss of historical value. This research addresses the need for conservation by exploring how these stone walls can be preserved and integrated into new architectural designs. The study examines relevant conservation policies and conducts five case studies: three focused on museum restorations and two on stone wall conservation. The research aims to present a conservation process and plan for the stone walls at Killough and to use it to evaluate the potential impact of these conservation efforts on the village’s landscape.
