This study aims to propose a museum that reflects regionality and uniqueness by utilizing the methods of External Space composition in traditional Seowon architecture in the planning of the Chusa Calligraphy Museum. To achieve this, the study identified the systems and characteristics of External Space composition in Seowon architecture and modern museums through prior research. Seowon architecture is characterized by its axis and symmetrical layout according to the terrain, with educational and ritual spaces separated by ground level differences, and an outward-oriented landscape structure. Additionally, it was found that the External Spaces of Seowon architecture and museums are composed of characteristics such as internal and external interactions, continuity and hierarchy, and closure and openness. Through this, useful measures for the spatial composition of the Chusa Calligraphy Museum were suggested.
