It is evident through various remarks that Hayao Miyazaki was conscious of World War II. However, in The Wind Rises and The Boy and the Heron, there is no direct drawing of the perpetrators or victims of war. Although there is World War II in the background of the times, both works are characterized by not showing combat scenes. Although vaguely, the realistic sense of loss and emptiness after the war is conveyed, there is a part where it is difficult to grasp the intention of the work unless the characters' lines or implicit images are carefully grasped. In this presentation, we will examine the generational characteristics of the message to the next generation, with the young man and boy read through these works set in the background of war as the main characters. I will examine how the genre characteristic of fantasy through imagination based on the memory of historical facts was used.
