After tooth extraction, the alveolar bone is naturally absorbed by 30 to 50% within one year on average, reducing its width and height. However, since adequate alveolar bone volume is essential for implant placement in areas where teeth have been lost, procedures such as alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) have been reported to prevent alveolar bone atrophy in the tooth extraction site. The purpose of this retrospective study is to share the clinical results of ARP using the newly developed Ca/P hyaluronic acid/gelatin-based dental plug (Q-bonplug®) on the tooth extracted socket. For a total of 18 patients who underwent ARP at Dong-A University Hospital from August 2021 to July 2022, post-operative clinical evaluation and CBCT analysis were performed on patients 1 year after implant placement. Post-operative complications and changes in alveolar bone width were summarized. As a result, the total number of surgical sites was twenty-six, of which thirteen were maxillary incisors (MxI), five were maxillary premolars (MxP), three were mandibular incisors (MnI), and five were mandibular premolars (MnP). Postoperative infection was observed only in one site, and the 1-year follow-up CBCT analysis showed a success rate of maintaining alveolar bone in 96.2% and an alveolar bone resorption rate of less than 10% in all cases. There was no statistically significant difference in absorption rate for each site. In conclusion, with the limitations of this retrospective study, the use of Ca/P hyaluronic acid/gelatin-based dental plugs for ARP was able to achieve clinically satisfactory results without the use of additional membranes. Due to the cost and simplicity of the procedure, it could be a material that can be easily applied clinically
