This investigation underscores the necessity of integrating aesthetic education in Chinese higher education to cultivate innovation and aesthetic sensibilities among science and engineering students. Drawing on embodied cognition theory, the research develops a creative dance education model to bridge the gap between aesthetic education and innovation in science majors. For research methods, interviews, participant observation, and multi-source data analysis were used. Initially, participants exhibited shyness, lack of self-confidence, social awkwardness, and mistrust. The course significantly improved individual development(emotional resonance, self-awareness, creative thinking, artistic perception) and social skills(empathy, communication, teamwork). The study aligns with sustainable education principles, showing how aesthetic education catalyzes long-term development through a framework focused on “innovative capabilities,” offering theoretical and empirical support for enhancing aesthetic education in higher education.
