This study will identify the scent preference of cypress essential oil, which is widely planted in the southern region to develop tourism products in Gwangju Metropolitan City, and will be provided as basic data for the development of the tourism industry. The subjects of the study were collected from physically healthy people among adults aged 20 or older among Gwangju Metropolitan City residents, and a survey was conducted from October 06, 2023, to October 26, 2023. In the fragrance preference survey of aroma essential oils, ‘No.1(Lemon)’ (M=3.88) was the highest overall in single fragrance, followed by ‘No.6(Jasmine)’ (M=3.26), ‘No.5(Geranium) (M=3.25), ‘No.3(Lavender)’ (M=2.83), ‘No.7(Hinoki)’ (M=2.74), and ‘No.2(Roman)’ (M=2.26). In addition, ‘No.1’ (M=3.32) was the highest overall mixed scent, followed by ‘No.3’ (M=3.25), ‘No.6’ (M=3.15), ‘No.5’ (M=3.13), ‘No.2’ (M=3.07) and ‘No.4’ (M=2.96) with an average of 3.15 points. In addition, there was a significant difference depending on gender between No. 5 and No. 6. Through these results, supplementary research is expected to be needed through an expansion study that increased the number of samples of gender and residential areas of survey subjects in the future to provide basic data on tourism product development using aroma essential oil scent preference surveys.
