The economic power of Generation Z is the fastest growing among all generations and is expected to reach $33 trillion by 2031, accounting for 25% of global personal income. This means that Generation Z will increasingly become a major player in the content market. Therefore, understanding the characteristics of Generation Z and creating content that caters to their tastes is important for content creators in the future. In this sense, this study compares the characteristics of Generation Z, who will become more influential in the future, with those of the protagonists of the most popular shonen manga anime in the 2020s. It is found that Tanjiro from Demon Slayer, David from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Denji from Chainsaw Man reflect both the individualism and pragmatism that characterize Generation Z. This is in contrast to the idealism and optimism of Goku from Dragon Ball, who represents Generation X, and Naruto from Naruto, who represents millennials.
