As the importance of CPTED for crime prevention increases, the CPTED certification of building is also increasing. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of CPTED certification by analyzing crime statistics and questionnaire data of two certified apartments and four non-certified apartments. As a result of the study, the satisfaction of residents of certified apartments with a well-established crime safety environment was high. The certification criteria emphasize natural surveillance through the activation of spaces and facilities included in the public and semi-public area, and accordingly, unlike non-certified apartments, residents of certified apartments had a lot of satisfaction with the use of these areas and interaction with neighbors. This difference was linked to the difference in fear of crime, and the fear of certified apartment residents was low. In conclusion, the higher the satisfaction with the crime prevention environment of certified apartments, the lower the fear of crime, and it is thought that satisfaction of living environment naturally increases as space utilization is activated.
