This study was conducted to analyze the words that represent the damage caused by the Japanese forced labor through interviews with victims of Japanese forced labor. Ann**, a survivor of the Imperial Japanese forced labor mobilization, was interviewed using the oral biographical research method, and the interview transcript was converted into an oral transcript, which was then analyzed for keywords. The scope of the keywords was limited to words related to family because of the special status of the bereaved family. The analysis showed that the keyword, ‘mother’ was highly frequent. The keyword ‘mother’ was followed by the word ’hardship’. The bereaved family members whose fathers were killed in the Imperial Japanese forced labor mobilization expressed their mother’s suffering as well as their own suffering. The keyword ‘mother’ is accompanied by the word ‘mother’s side’. The son was supported by his in-laws to overcome the damage caused by his father’s absence.
