Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of emerging infectious disease education programs for healthcare providers. Methods: The research published between 1990 and 2022 was searched through PubMed, Embase, CINHAL, Cochrane Library, KISS, RISS, and ScienceOn. The main search terms were ‘healthcare worker’, ‘emerging infectious disease’, ‘education’, ‘program’, ‘training’, ‘intervention’, and ‘effect’. Results: Out of the 5,433 publications initially identified through the bibliographic searches, 16 papers met the inclusion criteria. The emerging infectious disease education programs were found to have improved the healthcare providers’ knowledge, attitude, and skill of emerging infectious disease management. Conclusion: It is necessary to provide well designed infection control education programs to improve healthcare providers’ ability to manage emerging infectious diseases, and to promote intervention studies that apply various teaching methods and objectively measure infection control performance.
