The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between so- cial and emotional competency and learning outcomes by analyzing differences in gender, study period, and dance experience among demographic characteristics in determining how the social and emotional competency of Chinese international students majoring in dance affects companionship and learning outcomes. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS Ver. 25.0 program for frequency analysis of the characteristics of the survey subjects, factor analysis of the validity of the questionnaire, and Cronbach's a test for reliability verification. First, one- way ANOVA was conducted to find out the differences in demographic character- istics, and social and emotional competencies partially differed in companionship and learning outcomes according to the individual characteristics of Chinese stu- dents majoring in dance. Second, social perception, self-management, relation- ship management, and responsible decision-making of Chinese students majoring in dance had a significant positive effect on companionship. It was found that self-awareness of social competency, self-management, and decision-making had a positive effect on academic commitment, which is a sub-variable of learning outcomes, and it was found that social awareness, self-management, and decision- making, which are sub-variables of social competency, had a positive effect on learning transfer of learning outcomes. Third, in the relationship between self- management, learning commitment, and learning transfer of Chinese international students majoring in dance, companionship was found to have a partial mediating effect, and in the relationship between responsible decision-making, learning com- mitment, and learning transfer, companionship was found to have a partial medi- ating effect. In the relationship between social perception and learning transfer, companionship was found to have a partial mediating effect. Therefore, it is neces- sary to expand and operate programs for Chinese international students majoring in dance to promote and improve academic activities through active interaction, cooperation, and intervention in interpersonal relationships.
