The The purpose of this research was to find more efficient ways of managing Korean Intercollegiate Athletic teams by exploring based on the current status and problems of Japanese Intercollegiate Athletic teams. In order to fulfill this objective, this research was conducted from documents based on in-depth interview, literature review, internet survey. For actual situation analysis of japanese Intercollegiate Athletic teams, six interviews were selected as administrator of athletics department, athletic manager, sports policy expert and athletes at the W-university in Tokyo. The major results of this study were as follows. First, it was revealed that generally the sports recommendation entrance examination system brought the educational background drop of number of the student athletes in Japan, but major universities had education management system for the student athletes. Second, every collegiate athletic organization in Japan has no connections with each other. That`s why many researchers insisted to make the unification of collegiate athletic organization for academic management of student athletes in Japan. Third, the operation expense of the university athletic club was raised by university, an old boys` association, and student athlete. In generally, the university which run a university athletic club was confronted due to budgeting issue. In the end, The policy proposal on the basis of this study was suggested to make a specialized agency in charge of Korean Intercollegiate Athletic teams under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Education.
