The purpose of this study was to explore future directions for international sport professionals development policy to further strengthen national capacity of international sport relations. The study begins by investigating current status of related sport policies and its major outcomes and limitations. Some principal issues were discussed to suggest future directions for international sport professionals development policy. Literature review, interviews and expert meetings were employed as research methods. As results, major issues were classified as: a) the number of trainees and the standard to select them, b) integration and coordination of the program, c) the curriculum of the program. Some policy alternatives were suggested as following according to above issues. First, the number of trainees should be reduced to give personalized support, while the course is changed to dual-track course of sport administrator course and executive sport diplomat course. Second, education and field application are combined under a single system tentatively named "Global Leadership in Sports(GLS) program. Third, the curriculum of GLS program includes diverse modules such as international relations module, sport studies module, social skills module and field application module. English and second foreign language are taught according to personal needs. Fourth, 2018 PyeongChang Organizing Committee can be used as a training site for young professionals. Fifth, it is important to attend international forums and seminars hosted by IOC, IOC committees, and International Federations and make presentations if possible. Potential participants include GLS Alumni, directors and staffs at KOC and national Federations, Olympic medalists and participants, academics, sport journalists. Finally, establishing a international sport forum and inviting super powers of international sport politics can be a platform for Korea to become a global leader in sport.
