This study criticizes the existing museum"s quantitative response to Korea"s art museum policy and aims to understand the history and concept of the museum and propose a renovation plan to realize publicity. The museum has changed according to social, political, and economic trends with the times, and after democracy, the public concept of the museum was expressed through the education and dissemination of people"s culture and arts. The museum"s space has also changed due to people"s needs, and has developed in various ways, including convenience spaces, educational spaces, and communication spaces, but the museum"s essential concept includes preservation, collection, and education of data, so it can be recognized that the functions required by the user are different. Through this, various considerations are required when planning the renovation of the museum. The museum"s renovation cases were analyzed by selecting two overseas locations, and as a result of the analysis, extensions are divided into various ways, of which standalone extensions are inconvenient to access, and places connected to horizontal and vertical extensions are accessible in one space. In addition, as the space expanded, it proceeded with an overall balance, not biased allocation such as unconditional expansion of public facilities, water storage space, or management space, and furthermore, I think the museum can be positioned as a regional and social role. In this process, we must constantly think about what efforts are needed to realize publicity in the current art museum qualitatively, not quantitatively.
