Many things offer a glimpse into that era''s lifestyle, but clothing relics can change with the times. Since these costume relics are made of natural fibers, preventing oxidation due to contact with air is difficult, making permanent preservation challenging. Korean clothing relics are flat, and museums often display them by hanging on long sticks or spreading them out on the floor, making it difficult to understand the overall shape of the clothing. Therefore, this study aims to solve these problems by utilizing a 3D virtual program, focusing on the preservation of traditional Hwarot costumes from the Joseon Dynasty, and enabling the permanent preservation of historical relics. In this study, the pattern for the Hwarot clothes was created using YUKA(2D pattern CAD) and CLO(3D virtual CAD). The colors of the Hwarot clothes and embroidery used in the study were based on five traditional Korean colors: blue, white, red, black, and yellow. The fabric used in the study was Silk Taffeta, which is most similar to Hanbok among the materials provided in the 3D virtual clothing program. The embroidery patterns used various designs to wish good luck to the wearer. Among them, the embroidery patterns used in this study included phoenix, egret, waves, strange stones, peaches, butterflies, lotus flowers, and peonies. The shape of the Hwarot is longer in the back than in the front, has long side slits below the armpits, and the dongjeong used a straight line. The embroidery features colorful patterns at the bottom of the front and front of the back. The results of this study are deemed to be helpful in addressing limitations related to discoloration and shape deformation of historical artifacts by utilizing a 3D virtual program. If this 3D virtual clothing data is constructed and used for traditional clothing relics, it is expected that understanding of Korean clothing and culture will increase and interest in restored Korean clothing cultural assets will grow.
