The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the changes in perception of objects and concepts. Chiharu Shiota, a contemporary artist from Osaka, Japan, is an unrivaled artist with installation works that utilizes threads by fusion of areas such as painting, performance, and fiber. This paper will reveal Chiharu Shiota''s emotional world such as objects and concepts in her installation works, which is the basic element of contemporary art. Red and black thread began to appear in 1994, and white thread began to be used in 2017. In her works, the single-colored thread provide a glimpse into her unique unconsciousness and way of thinking, so studying the color in her works is necessary to explore her art world. Therefore, this study selected works from 2002 when she began thread works, compared and analyzed the atmosphere in which each of the three colors unfolded in a space. Based on this, by presenting a narrative such as the her memories that match the works, the three color threads are symbols of her emotional world, and through this, the changes in her perception and thinking about the same objects, concepts are illuminated. Through this, the following conclusions were drawn. First of all, red, black, and white are related to the change in she thinking about death caused by repeated health problems. In the early, three colors were mainly symbols of her emotion, but through creation, she healed and became re-aware of life and death, so the color became more meaningful. Black thread are mainly symbols of extinction and absence caused by fear and oppression, red thread is a wish that expresses anxiety, uncertainty, human relationships, and the seeds of the future. Since 2017, after the recurrence of ovarian cancer, she thought that death as a transformation and sublimation of life in a different way, so the newly created works mainly use white threads that contain transcendence of life and death and exploration of the future.
