In this modern era, animation is an excellent method to associate with the audience through an effective form of communication by visual elements. The purpose of this study is to analyze the animation picture screens based on Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory and animated film itself to help the audience to empathize more. The narrative messages that the audience obtain through animation picture screens are much more rigorous than those from dictation or narration. In addition, it is also full of unlimited possibilities in a way that is creatively combining different types of camera angles. However, communication failures can start with lack of understanding of the animation picture screen. According to the related theories of animation semiotics, this study is to analyze the animation based on Charles Sanders Peirce’s theory of audience and semiology for a Korean animation which recorded 450,000 visitors in about a month. <Yobi, The Five Tailed fox> was released in 2007. First of all, based on the plot which is the sequence of connected events that make up a narrative in an animation. Secondly, the analysis of semiotic aspects in animation scenes for Charles Sanders Peirce who formulated a three-part triadic model consisting of an interpretant, representamen, and an object. Additionally, the camera movement could have different technical or semantic functions. The study determined that semilogical studies are strongly important in animation studies. Peirce’s theory of semiology is helpful in creating deeper relationship between the audience and the meaning of animation picture screens. Moreover, visual logic is a key part of visual reasoning as it helps the audience to empathize more. Creatively combining different types of camera angles influenced the audience’s psychological reaction. Through this theoretical study, I hope to contribute to a semioltic analysis of the visual representation that appears in animation picture screens.
