The purpose of this study is to analyze, classify, and characterize the body shapes of adult women ages 20-69 years with flat busts whose difference dimension between bust circumference and underbust circumference is less than 7.5 cm. Through this, this study attempts to derive suggestions necessary for the development of garments that can make flat chested women’s body shapes look beautiful. Women with flat busts have a difference dimension of 6.09 cm between bust and underbust circumference and 9.44 cm for all adult women. The body shapes of women with flat busts are categorized into 3 types: low shoulders, low shoulders and obese upper body; small and high shoulders, and normal upper body; and wide and low shoulders, high shoulders, and thin upper body. Those in their 20s are mostly of the small, high-shouldered, normal upper body and the broad, drooping, high-shouldered, thin upper body type, while those in their 30s are mostly of the broad, drooping, high-shouldered, thin upper body type. The analysis show that people in their 40s have small shoulders and high, normal upper bodies; people in their 50s and 60s have drooping shoulders and low, obese upper bodies; and as people age, their shoulders droop and the circumference, thickness, and width of their upper bodies increase. The ratio of the circumference, width, and thickness of the under bust to the waist based on the circumference, width, and thickness of the bust are analyzed as mediocre, as the difference in ratio is not significant for women with flat bust. Suggestions for garment development include the need for different shoulder width dimension settings, which require design development that reflect the body shape better. In addition, adjustment of the shoulder angle is required to improve the fit. And new drafting methods are required when setting the horizontal line inclination for garments with small and close differences between the bust, under bust, and waist areas. Future studies should focus on the frontal and lateral site-specific angles in more detail.
