There are numerous exchanges between countries through advanced technology, resulting in the combination of various cultures. In this situation, many countries are trying to inherit and spread their identity, culture, tradition, and art, and among them, crafts based on tradition are becoming a major means to promote and build their beauty around the world. Among many countries that inherit traditional crafts, Japan continues to inherit traditional crafts through continuous interest and support, and through this, it has continued its traditional beauty. Especially, among the traditional craft techniques, Kyoyuzen is loved by its own people based on colorful Japanese patterns. The purpose of this study is to study the development plan of Korean traditional pattern dyeing based on the present situation of Kyoyuzen in Japan, and to succeed and revive traditional pattern dyeing. In this study, we first studied Kyoyuzen. A traditional Japanese dyeing technique, and examined the development plan of Korean traditional pattern dyeing through the process of examining the background, industry, and modern products that have been steadily changing over a long period of time. In the case of Japan’s Kyoyuzen, the government’s revised traditional industry-related legislation, the revitalization of the Yuzen industry by the local governments in Kyoto, and the transformation into modern products not only in their own countries but also in the world. It provides and inherits traditional beauty. Based on these precedents, it was clarified that traditional pattern dyeing is also a long-term policy rather than a one-off policy, and if the craft culture industry policy is improved and utilized as a local cultural content, and professional educational institutions and programs are opened offered, it will be able to develop national competitiveness by becoming one of representative cultural contents in addition to the development and succession of traditional pattern dyeing. It is hoped that this approach to the succession and development of Japanese traditional crafts can be the basis for the development and succession of Korean traditional pattern dyeing.
