This study aims to propose a new direction for media communication design education in response to the paradigm shift driven by changing methods of acquiring cultural capital among the Z generation. The research methodology involves primarily a literature review to establish a theoretical foundation, while concurrently seeking to enhance the reliability and validity of the study through empirical and experiential evidence. This will be accomplished by conducting one-on-one in-depth interviews with members of Generation Z and employing Focus Group Interviews. Traditional methods of cultural capital acquisition, rooted in established norms, have given way to the emergence of social media, enabling transcendent cultural acquisition and self-directed learning across temporal and spatial boundaries in the global society. This shift democratizes the acquisition of cultural capital, allowing for cultural and societal reproduction through shared access. By fostering fluidity and diversity in cultural preferences, this transformation challenges the conventional hierarchical notions and nurtures the de-territorialization of creative cultural capital. Furthermore, online communities based on social media platforms serve as cornerstones for enhancing creativity through the amalgamation of diverse influences, strengthening creativity through cross-cultural interactions. On the other hand, the social media-centric lives of the Z generation have raised concerns about the reconstruction of digital life, marked by a constant pursuit of self-expression and hyper-connectivity. Implicit pressures toward ceaseless self-curation have led to fears of compromised authenticity and multi-persona, highlighting a deficiency in true selfhood in the digital realm. Guided by these observations, the future trajectory of new media communication design education necessitates the cultivation of critical evaluative skills concerning information, the development of curricula capable of fostering a balance between online and offline cultural capital acquisition and embodiment, and the concerted effort to bolster the authenticity and self-esteem of the Z generation. These endeavors must serve as the foundation for all design education.
