The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of leisure sports participation among elderly single-person households and how to promote it. In this study, to achieve the research purpose, elderly (n=27) aged 65 or older who regularly participate in leisure sports from single-person households were interviewed in depth to confirm their characteristics. In addition, a group of senior leisure sports experts (n=9) was organized to explore ways to revitalize leisure sports participation among elderly single-person households. The results of this study are as follows. First, the characteristics of leisure sports among elderly single-person households are "flexibility in time use and variety of sports participation", "distinct preferences and common tastes", "interest in improving health and quality of life", and "fear of loneliness and interaction orientation". Second, the following recommendations were identified to promote participation in leisure sports by elderly single-person households: "considering personal circumstances and cultural diversity", "specialized exercise programs and psychological support services", "improving and increasing the accessibility of leisure sports facilities for the elderly", "providing exercise information and exchange platforms", and "promoting tailored policies by the government and local governments to create a social support base". This study has implications for the development of leisure sports policies for the elderly in response to changes in the demographic structure of the super-aged society and the increase in the number of elderly per capital, reflecting social changes and the specificity of policy target.
