Korean modern architecture is following the Western architectural style due to rapid modernization due to the influence of modernism based on functionalism. Therefore, efforts are needed to secure Korean tradition, such as modern reinterpretation of traditional architecture, and we must move in the direction of modernizing traditional architecture. In this study, we attempted to find out the direction of modernization by applying elements of traditional Korean architecture to modern architecture. A case study of modern architecture was conducted through theoretical consideration through previous research and the characteristics of chae-dividing among the elements of traditional architecture. Through the characteristics of Chae-dividing, we were able to find expressions of various elements through applicability to modern architecture and the ambiguity unique to Korean traditional architecture. Future research will need to add not only analysis, but also more accurate analysis of interior space and measures that can suggest the direction of modernization.
