The purpose of this study is to define the similarities between the era John Steinbeck"s The Grapes of Wrath presents and the era of the COVID-19 Pandemic we have experienced. First, the similarities between The Grapes of Wrath and the age of ‘COVID-19’ appear as the families and communities face crises. Second, situations in both eras brought about economic crises for both families and society. Diving into the society of capitalism during the economic crises, more similarities can be defined between the two. Third, the possibilities of recovery from the crises that families and communities have gone through can be explored through The Grapes of Wrath as well as the recovery from the pandemic. Thus, focusing on the sense of community of "we," not individuals of “me”, this study not only finds a way to coexist through considering others and harmonizing between communities, but also reveals the process of realizing the possibilities.
