The research investigates the factors influencing college basketball players’ decisions to remain engaged in university basketball clubs, with a specific focus on the interaction between social capital and continued participation intention. Data from 503 players were analyzed using various statistical methods, revealing significant insights. Firstly, social capital, characterized by trust and shared norms within the club, significantly impacts players’ satisfaction with participation. Secondly, social capital directly affects players’ intention to continue participating, with relational and cognitive dimensions playing crucial roles. Participation satisfaction, driven by social interaction, skill development, and fitness maintenance, positively influences players’ commitment to the club. The implications suggest that club administrators should prioritize building social capital by organizing activities fostering trust and shared norms. Additionally, enhancing participation satisfaction through tailored programs and diverse activities is crucial. By nurturing social capital and participation satisfaction, administrators can create an environment conducive to sustained engagement, fostering a sense of community and teamwork. Ultimately, the findings provide a roadmap for administrators to cultivate a thriving environment where players feel valued and motivated to continue their basketball journey.
