Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide foundational data for future policy establishment and countermeasures by analyzing social trends and issues in the local sports industry through the analysis of big data from social media.
Method: For this purpose, big data analysis was conducted using the “Textom” solution from 2020 to 2023. This involved gathering keywords related to the local sports industry from popular internet portal sites such as Naver, Daum, and Google.
Results: The analysis revealed that 86% of the issues related to the local sports industry were perceived positively, while 14% were perceived negatively. These issues were categorized into four main clusters: revitalization of the sports industry, development of the local sports industry, government-supported projects, and university competitiveness.
Conclusion: In conclusion, the findings suggest a strong short-term support for the development of the local sports industry. However, it is crucial to establish sustainable policies, strategies, and systematic programs for long-term growth and stability.
