This study aimed to propose the introduction of a daylight-based dimming control system for lighting within the context of smart window applications, with a focus on summer clear-sky conditions, in order to ensure the required illuminance levels and energy savings. To achieve this goal, the effects of applying the daylight-based dimming control system were analyzed from the perspectives of illuminance requirement satisfaction and energy savings. To confirm illuminance requirements after implementation, adjustable lighting devices with light output settings of 0%, 50%, and 100% were installed in the experimental space. On days with clear-sky conditions, the lighting output was set to 50%, and indoor average illuminance was measured. Using the XGBoost Regressor model, indoor average illuminance, considering only Daylight for the same date and time, was predicted. The time required for illuminance output to be at 50% was determined to meet the illuminance requirements. The actual measured indoor average illuminance(daylight + artificial light) at the derived time was then checked for compliance with the illuminance requirements. To analyze the energy-saving effects, two lighting control strategies were selected for comparison. The energy savings rate was calculated when applying the daylight-based dimming control compared to the control group. The analysis results showed that lighting energy usage could be reduced by up to 92% when using the daylight-based dimming control, compared to the lighting control method where lighting was turned on throughout the occupancy period.
