The purpose of this study was to find out the sustainable city planning factors that can implement to cope the impact of heat waves due to climate change. It aims to analyze urban planning techniques in the Middle East in response to climate change and the result of this study were as follows; 1) Axis of northwest-southeast layout of buildings minimizes solar radiation and heat energy received by buildings, 2) continuous shading space is provided through a constant ratio between the building height and the distance between buildings (H/W), and 3) various walking activities are induced through the development of the lower floors. This study intends to contribute to sustainable urban planning in consideration of the microclimate within the constraints of heat waves.
