The purpose of this study is to construct a speech formality measurement formula that can be utilized in automatic scoring of KFL speaking. To construct the formality measurement formula, a list of formal-register grammar items and shortened words, neologisms, and slang words were used as scoring features. Then, this study calculated the frequency of grammar and vocabulary scoring features and performed multiple regression analysis, based on which we constructed the KFL speaking scoring formula. This study compared the scoring results from the formality measurement formula with those from the expert group and found a correlation coefficient of 0.729. These results suggest that the KFL speaking formality measurement formula proposed in this study can be utilized in practice.
