Normcore is a trend of life style which was formed by multiple factors such as economical driver during recession, consumer’s sense of responsibility and the social background which pursues the new value like stability, sustainability, and internal peace. Normcore fashion is a convenient, simple and modern design by using ordinary items rather than showing off of premium brand.
Some designers use knit material to develop brands. .In this pater, I studied Chanel, Victoria Beckham, Alexander Wang and Joseph. Knit is thought to be a proper material to show the characteristics of Normcore and it is better shown in the collections of young designers who pursue sports, casual style and convenience rather than formal style.
I analyzed the collections of the four designers since 2015 and concluded that the esthetic characteristics of Normcore design in knit fashion are 1. the pursuit of normality and practicalism, 2. the pursuit of naturalism, 3. the pursuit of modern sensibility and 4. the pursuit of casual design.
