Fashion education in the current global era requires a customized education reflected by the demand of fashion industries, emphasizing high adaptability in the field work for the sake of individualized professional development. Based the notion of creative engineering design and synthesized design, the Capstone design initiated its customized education system with specific aims of fostering engineers with creative thinking and independent design capabilities. Also, it enhances problem solving abilities as well as communication skills and design capabilities through cooperative task performance processes. Therefore, this study seeks a new direction of domestic fashion education faced with structural change within our society brought by globalization and opening of fashion markets as well as rapid increase of the aging populations. In addition, in order to promote the fashion brands within traditional markets, we aim to present senior women’s wear brand development plans as well as related design proposals in Pyounghwa traditional market by application of the Capstone design model centered around practical field educational modules. The results of this study are following:First, the Capstone design is a practical field work education program, that is effective in enriching communication skills of team project styles through a customized education system specific for demand of the industries in need of professional human resources training modules with adaptive capacity in its unique field work environments,Second, core learning activity processes of the Capstone design include case analysis research, design refinement, finished prototype developments, and evaluations and presentations. Its processes are also moderated according to the outcome of consultations with the fashion brand companies, involving task analysis, information gathering and analysis, eliciting problem solution priorities, design solutions and constructions, and outcome exhibitions and evaluation presentations. Third, to develop new designs by application of the Capstone design model, 3 women’s wear brands targeting the senior segments were selected within the Pyounghwa traditional market. The related final results are presented and submitted after each brand design concept through data gathering and data analysis within the frame of requirement by industry field environments.
