Nowaday nail design is being diversely shown the experimental nail works of artistic propensity in which a nail designer's various creativity and technical skills are hidden with expressing own individuality. Considering that a flow of the nail field in modern times is proceeding with expressing an individual's value or mind-set, and further culture with nail design, the allegory is considered to be an analytical tool suitable for possibly understanding and analyzing a meaning and a value of being expressed in nail design. Accordingly, this study considered a theoretical concept of allegory for the academic understanding, analyzed scholars who researched into allegory, and then analyzed a case of allegorical theory in Craig Owens that was shown in nail design. The scope of a case was set to be from the day after the year in 2000 when is the period that the material combination and the mix-media technology were introduced to nail design. It is a situation of being insufficient in a research on a beauty field on allegorical theory. Especially, a research on nail field is lacking. Hence, the aim is to have significance in that the academic approach was attempted by expanding a scope of a research analytical tool and applying new research methodology.
