Knit has many ways to express itself and applied to various fields. Especially, knit has became one of the most important means in the modern fashion and textile art and design. Meanwhile fashion and textile art, already recognized as a genre of art, has shown the works which combining the conceptual ideas using knit techniques are being created more often than before in Korea. However, infrastructure of knit history and education is not strong as much as Western countries. Therefore, researching and introducing pioneer among many knit artists will be meaningful.One of the most influential knit artist Freddie Robins has presented her own works of creative concepts with not only using various craft knitting techniques, but also introducing the cutting edge technology. The results of analyzing her works are as follow.By exaggerating or distorting a certain part of human body form, she raises the question of stereotype. She shows us that the directly-opposed ideas can be fused together by witty humor, which we can surmise from the titles of her works. It is very difficult to combine a inquiring mind for the new technology to the artist‘s creative and conceptual design, but as one of the pioneers in this field, she combined 3D seamless knitting technology to her own unique and creative ideas. Using plain sweaters and mittens that are common around us, she transformed the original form into created a new plastic art. Above all, she researched on the large-scale works and tried an experiment on diversifying spatial composition in the installation. This can be said that she laid down the foundations of the formative knit art.
