Such anti-Japanese actions which took place across Korea, China, Taiwan or some areas in Japan were one of the best revenges adopted by the oppressed at that time. The incident named as “Taichung Righteous Action”, when Cho Myeong-ha had tried to stab Kuninomiya on May 14, 1928, could be viewed as one of these anti-Japanese actions. This incident was a big shock to Japan. Although Japanese government had put in effort to control speech, then Premier Tanaka Giichi immediately delivered a statement to the nation’s people, expressing the determination to investigate the incident without delay. Considering the process and aftershock of the righteous action taken by Cho Myeong-ha, this incident was a typical fight against the Japanese. On the righteous action taken by Cho Myeong-ha, Yet Taiwan’s history academic field has so far directly cited historical material originated from Japan, which is a fallacy in itself. Under the thorough check of then Japanese authorities, Cho Myeong-ha’s righteous and courageous action had been swept under the torrents of history. More frustrating is that Taiwanese books or Web sites all cited from Japanese material without further survey. Now under the globalizing trend of 21stcentury, the question of “what is our mother land” has won wide attention and provided excellent opportunity for people tore consider this; hence the current paper is produced to explore such problems.
