This study is a comparative analysis of the formation of liquid crystal emulsions based on the type of oil used. In a previous study titled "Structural Analysis and Skin Absorption Study of Various Liquid Crystal Emulsions for Dermal Delivery of Retinol", as a result, better formulation of liquid crystal emulsions was achieved using the Phyto Care emulsifier. In this study, creams were formulated by changing only the oil component while using the Phyto Care emulsifier. The pH, viscosity, and extent of liquid crystal formation were compared among the different cream formulations. The results showed that the cream formulated with hemp seed oil exhibited the lowest pH values, measuring 6.36 (Direct) and 7.34 (Solution). The cream with jojoba oil showed the highest pH values, with measurements of 7.19 (Direct) and 8.05 (Solution). In terms of viscosity, the cream with macadamia oil had the highest viscosity of 2,679,000 cps, while the cream with canola oil had the lowest viscosity of 961,000 cps. The cream with canola oil also exhibited the lowest elasticity at 43.67g. Furthermore, color analysis using CMYK values indicated that jojoba oil had the highest yellow level (Y value) at 9.6, while hemp seed oil had the lowest value at 3.1. When comparing RGB values, jojoba oil had the highest R value, consistent with the CMYK analysis. Under polarized light microscopy, all seven oil-based creams showed the formation of liquid crystals. However, the cream with canola oil, in particular, exhibited the most distinct and clear formation of liquid crystals, contrasting with the other oils. Despite the expectation that similar properties would be observed based on the composition of fatty Acids, creams formulated with canola oil and sweet almond oil, which have similar fatty Acid ratios, displayed different physical characteristics after manufacturing.
