The purpose of this study is to examine how the leisure lifestyle of Generation Z, who will emerge as the future consumer generation, influences their flow, and to identify whether there are differences in the perception of leisure based on lifestyle by confirming the roles of perceived values and self-efficacy. For this purpose, a structured questionnaire was administered to J University students, and a total of 256 valid questionnaires were analyzed.
The analysis results show that each sub-factor of leisure lifestyle has a positive impact on self-efficacy and flow, and self-efficacy is confirmed to be an important factor in enhancing flow. Utilitarian value showed moderating effects between family centrality and self-efficacy, as well as between rational planning and self-efficacy. Hedonic value exhibited moderating effects between sensory seeking and self-efficacy, and between rational planning and self-efficacy. Additionally, the mediating effect analysis revealed partial mediation of self-efficacy between leisure lifestyle and flow.
Through the analysis results, it can be anticipated that the leisure lifestyle of Generation Z, by increasing self-efficacy and enhancing flow, especially highlights the crucial role of family centrality. This suggests the potential success of developing various programs related to family-centered leisure activities. Moreover, perceived values can enhance self-efficacy, and since self-efficacy can significantly influence the enhancement of flow for Generation Z, the application of leisure programs related to these factors is indicated.
