This study delves into the self-exposure mechanisms employed by non-scripted content performers within the realm of tele-surveillance. It pays special attention to the phenomena of generalized digital voyeurism and exhibitionism within a broadened visual system. The investigation seeks to determine whether non-scripted cast members willingly expose themselves. Utilizing individual in-depth interviews, the research empirically examines the modes of filming, objectives of self-exposure, and intentions of exposure in non-scripted content from the cast members" perspective. Results indicate that these cast members are not consciously self-directing, but rather find themselves in a state of uncontrolled self-exposure. Moreover, even when the intentions of the cast and the director"s production practices differed, satisfaction arose if both parties" goals, primarily drawing viewer attention, were met. The primary aim of the non-scripted performers was to present themselves as the ultimate product, characterized by attributes like fame or impact. Ultimately, they felt content if the resulting portrayal was appealing to the audience, irrespective of their original intentions. The study suggests that the pivotal aspect in non-scripted performances lies more in effective commoditization than in aligning exposure with personal desires.
