This study aimed to examine the meaning of daily life and travel which is implied in ‘one-month living’, a new travel trend in recent days. What participants of ‘one-month living’ try to pursue through continuing both daily life and travel activities is main purpose of this study. The specific research question is ‘What is the meaning and essence of travel to those who participate in one-month living?’ and the following three sub-problems. First, why are the participants go one-month living? What are they trying to achieve? Second, what are the experiences that the participants of one-month living seek? Third, what changes do participants perceive in their daily lives through one-month living? This study collected data through in-depth interviews with participants who have experienced one-month living in Korea in recent three years. In addition, this study attempted to understand the meaning and essence of travel through the four-step analysis process of van Manen’s hermeneutic phenomenology.
