Lichen striatus (LS) is an uncommon, asymptomatic, lin ear, self-limited dermatosis that usually occurs along Blasch ko’s lines on the extremities in children. Nail involvement in LS is relatively uncommon and can develop with or without skin lesions.
A 7-year-old boy presented onychodystrophy with periun gual whitish scales on his right index finger, which occurred seven months ago. He had been treated with cryotherapy for the lesion at a local clinic as a periungual wart without im provement. Over time, linear lichenoid patches developed on the same finger. Under the diagnosis of lichen striatus, the patient was treated with topical corticosteroid cream and showed improvement in the nail lesion. However, after 5 years, a similar lesion recurred at the same area involving the nail and was resolved with topical corticosteroid cream again. Herein, we report a rare case of nail lichen striatus that was waxed and waned for five years.
