This study investigated the developmental aspects of story construction ability of a 5-year-old child by collecting stories once a week for 10 months. The method was chosen as one of “voluntary calculation” to further analyze the method of collecting the stories in various aspects. Based on the collected data, the basic aspects, the ability to compose the contents, and the cohesion of the story were analyzed. The basic aspects were quantitative analysis such as ignition time, reaction time, and number of C-units. In terms of the ability to compose the content of the stories, the topic was summarized and the level of development of the concept of story structure by type of story. In addition, age development patterns were analyzed. To improve the story construction ability of school-age children, teachers need to closely understand the characteristics of the story construction ability that should be developed in the preschool stage. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the level of story construction ability at school age and integrate the lack of development in school age and help development.
