The purpose of this study was to investigate to what extent international students are culturally intelligent according to their Korean proficiency. One hundred and fifty-five students studying at a Korean university participated in this study. The Cultural Intelligence Scale (Ang, Dyne, Koh, Templer, Tay, & Chandrasekar, 2007) and the scores of TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) were used for analysis. The data were processed using R program (version 4.3.0.). The findings of data analysis showed that 1) The students’ Korean proficiency is positively related with the cultural intelligence cognitively and behaviorally. 2) Their age is not related with any sub-factors of cultural intelligence. 3) Their nationality group is related with the cultural intelligence meta-cognitively, cognitively, motivationally, and behaviorally. 4) International students’ gender is related with the cultural intelligence behaviorally only. Cultural intelligence should be continuously researched and utilized as a framework for educational implementation. Given the rapid increase in the number of international students in Korea, it is deemed necessary to establish guidelines through cultural intelligence research to support their successful integration and settlement.
